Could this mean the new colorized $100 notes may be released into circulation some time soon? I think I can speak for all of us when I say it's been way too long.:dead-horse:  I'm curious if they possibly just decided to start completely over with the 2009A's and shred the '09s or what they're doing.

Otherwise I don't see why they should add the A.. It says on the site they added the A to represent a "new production cycle". But then again, they did do something similar with '03 and '03A. It just doesn't make sense. What exactly is a "production cycle"? Like different plates?

Does anybody have any word or rumors about when they should be released?
I ordered pamphlets and posters and all kinds of awareness promotional stuff from these people and it seems like that was 2-3 years ago!! Kind of a slap in the face having to look at the $100 poster in my room all the time. Maybe I should just take it down.:(

They have been in consultations with the North Koreans since they are seemingly the only ones that really know how to print a good $100. But with all the upheaval in North Korea since the change of leadership to Kim Jong Un they have stalled on helping the USA surreptitiously.

Nobody has any idea, and the BEP hasn't given anything resembling a coherent answer in response to inquries. The best explanation I've got, for this and other oddities over the years, is that series dates work however the current generation of folks at the BEP think they work, and every now and then they get strange ideas.

The last we heard from the Fed is that they'll give us six months' warning before the notes are released. They haven't done that yet, so we're looking at March 2013 at the earliest.

Normally, I would click like on any of Numbers' informative posts, but how am I supposed to like the fact that we have to wait *at least* 6 more months?! I'm just kidding though Numbers, you've earned it.

    Thanks for the info!

    Hey Numbers,

If these series dates are all correct on the $1 and $2 bills (Series 2003/2003A) and on the old/current style $100 bills are both Series 2006 and 2006A, why do you think that, since the last non-colorized $5 bill was Series 2006, as was the new colorized $5 bills instead of the new colorized $5 bills being "Series 2006A or even, Series 2008? I know that this issue has been discussed time, and time again, but I'm just curious as to what you think on the matter.
