For several years, Series 1935 and 1957 Silver Certificates were printed at the same time: Priest – Humphrey 28 Jan 1953 – 29 Jul 1957 1935 E – no motto Priest – Anderson 29 Jul 1957 – 20 Jan 1961 1935 F – no motto 1957 – with motto Smith – Dillon 30 Jan 1961 – 13 Apr 1962 1935 G – with and without motto 1957 A – with motto Granahan – Dillon 03 Jan 1963 – 01 Apr 1965 1935 H – with motto 1957 B – with motto The notes were in transition to a new design with the National Motto and a transition from 18-subject to 32-subject sheets, but I can't find any documentation indicating why the two series were printed together for so many years. Can someone provide and explanation, or is this another BEP mystery?
I found my answer on Numbers' Web site — It was a lengthy transition from the 18-subject sheets to the 32-subject sheets.
