I have a $20 dollar bill with the serial number 89989899. I read somerwhere that serial number in order I.E 12345678 were rare. I was wonder if this bill is worth keeping or if i can make something on it. I don't know too much about bill I usually stick to coins so i'm not sure what to look for.
beanz, you have what is called a radar note. http://reviews.ebay.com/Fancy-Bank-Notes-10-Most-Common-Categories_W0QQugidZ10000000001758931
Actually its not a radar note but it is a binary note. Whether its worth keeping would depend greatly on the condition of the bill. Richard
I agree with the "worth keeping depending on the condition", and somewhat agree with it being a binary. Some collectors consider any serial number with 2 digits, (2 & 7, or 8 & 9 etc) to be binarys, and some collectors only consider 1 & 0 to be binarys.....either way, condition, series, (year) district, and whether it's a star note are all factors to determine it's value or worth. If YOU like it, keep it.
Thank you for the reply. As I said i'm not big on collecting paper money so i i'll probably try to sell it on eBay or something. even if its only slightly over face someone who wants it will have it. I'll keep it on the side if i can't find anyone to trade or sell it with but if I can't find anyone it might just get spent. It is a series 2009 slightly worn 20. Has a crease down the middle and the bottom right corner is bending slightly up. Other than that it is crisp no other wrinkles but I still don't expect much out of it. Thank you again for the information, now I have something more to look for when going through my bills.
Nice find! Even though it's not a radar, it might be of interest to somebody. Instead of putting it on ebay and dealing with ebay and paypal charges, see if you can find someone to trade with.
I know another collector i'll see if he wants it first. I don't know any other ways of trading but i'll see what i can do
