As said in a previous thread that I have been going through 1000's of dollar notes and I ran across this one a few wks back. Is this a legitimate error (ser. # too far right) or should I let it go? the rev. is relatively normal except for a little off center. Thanks CT members for the help, John
Technically one could call it an error because the E touches the leaves. Certainly not major but good eye!
I have seen plenty of them in my time. As for me its not worth keeping in my collection but, that is the beauty of collecting... it might fit yours perfectly. Keep looking, the one that will set your collection apart from others, is out there.
i would keep, like clembo said, once it reaches the outer design .... but its not all that major either. If you keep itmes strictly for their ability to quickly climb in value, this wont fit. On the ohter hand, if you collect for the fun of it, and love oddball items that catches people attentions.. BINGO you found it
Two different notes, two questions Q1. the serial # is misaligned would this or could this be considered an error? Q2. I don't know if it will show, but the serial # is thinner than all the other #'s, the only comparrison that I can give is they (serial #'s) seem real crisp like the #'s on some of my silver certs, or as compared to the pics. Anybody have any idea what would cause this. Thanks, John
neither of those are errors. serial number 'shifts' happen alot. so they are largely ignored. Unless of course the shift is so far off... well, thats different.
there value in that note clembo? or its a keeper for the conversation value? I see notes like that all the time, and wouldnt think they would carry much, if any, collector value.
Probably not a lot of value actually but it is a pretty nice "roll" compared to the other serial number. Personally, a keeper but not one will get rich off of.
