Septimius Severus Denarius, Rome or Laodicea?

    This is either the Rome mint issue RIC 144(b) or Laodicea RIC 516. What say you? The bust looks like high Roman style to me, reverse could go either way.

    Rev.: VICTORIAE AVGG FEL; Victory advancing left, holding open wreath in both hands over shield set on low base.

    I'd guess Rome but this is later than my period of interest. My Laodicea is below.

    Here's a Severus ex the @Sallent collection:

    Denarius of Severus featuring Neptune, most likely commemorating his visit to Britain by sea.

    Septimius Severus, A.R. Denarius, Rome mint, 210 C.E.

    3.3 grams, 19.1 mm

    Obverse: Laureate head right, SEVERVS PIVS AVG

    Reverse: PMTRP XVIII COS III PP

    Neptune standing left, nude but for cloak over left shoulder and right arm, right foot on rock, right arm resting on right knee, trident vertical behind in left hand.

    That's Rome.
