This one has come up for sale at a major European autcion house. I suspect that it is a pressed fake from modern dies. I believe that the obverse die has been used on the following coins (from Forvm Fake reports) I believe the reverse to be the following:- Thoughts? Martin
Major European (or other location) would seem to need to spend more of their profits on staff that know coins. It is a lame excuse that 'we sell 20,000 coins a month'. If business is so good that people pay 20% buyer's fees on top of triple estimates, hire and train professional staff rather than moaning about how hard life is. Big name businesses are only a few steps from becoming jokes when the clientele lose faith.
I sent a message but have not had a response. They have ignored me before as I am not well known to them. I'm just a small time collector.
