The price of silver has been slightly rising this past month and closed today at $39.08. This might be time for me to sell off my pre 1965 dimes and quarters, war nickels and 40% Kennedy halves. Any thoughts on what a fair price I might be able to receive at a well established coin shop or pawn shop for these denominations at the current market level?

I tried the market selling EF-BU mint-marked Mercury dimes, etc., in $50 lots without any S/H/TAX.

I received only 1 response/sale at your stated value.

Just examine final auction sales, to determine actual commodity values!

Try again in $10.00 face lots. $50 lots are $1,250.00; that's quite a bit for the average collector. $10.00 would be $250.00, a little easier for folks. Also, where did you post that offer?

I started with smaller amounts at a lower than eBay gross price, increased value, reduced payment amount, and now list at a low price meeting the "American Act" criteria!

I list multiple large lots on Craigslist across the country, with shipping/feedback allowed on an EBid account!

We often acquired some coins in my collection that were shipped abroad by
U.S. Dealers, purchased back from Dealers having offices abroad, which may not be feasible to deliver with current shipping and tariff constraints.

This is just a hobby for me to determine where's the greed threshold for todays' buyer!

I gave my son a full size safe (~36w x 24d x 72h), filled with a ~7 figure sum of U.S. coins that generally can't hardly be found today, collected since 1949 when I worked as an invisible "helper" in a BM coin shop, traveling with the owner as a cute young buyer to coin shows.

Well...like @Heavymetal suggested, I think the $25.00 per face is a reasonable price point. I'd buy at that price point.

I agree, ~85% of melt would be a good time to buy!

Any AU condition Mercury dime has a wholesale Greysheet minimum listed price of $4-6, and MS60 is $7!

Your $2.50 price would usually attract buyers, but I only had one who bought several listings of Quality U.S. Silver and Gold coins, before I closed the offerings.
