Hello CT! :welcome: Before I go and sell a bunch of, IMO, collectable money to a pawn shop or any other person looking to make a buck, I would like to get some sort of insight on the subject. I've never sold any currency what-so-ever so please bare with me. To make this worth your time I will ship out to the winner a very special note of mine. All you have to do is post. =] The # post I'm thinking of is the victor. Good luck. I have in my lap some paper money from the USA; Many star notes; Many silver certs: Many red seal 2s...many notes in general. Pictures help 100000% of the time I know, but time is not of the essence. I know that the grade of the note is very important and I also know that different collectors are willing to pay more for certain notes. I own birthday notes, radars and repeaters, some people are going to offer more for a note baring their sons birthday than the next guy will. All I ask is type up any of your knowledge on the subject. Current red seal 2 prices...what you've previously sold some of the same notes for...etc. Thank you ever so much, PM me if you need to, and good luck to the winner. I will PM you and let everyone know when theyve won! TTFN
Without any information at all on the notes you have, it's going to be difficult to help you. My suggestion is to use ebay's Completed Listings filter to see the recent sales of what you have. Examples: "$2 red seal": http://www.ebay.com/csc/Coins-Paper-Money-/11116/i.html?LH_Complete=1&_nkw=%242+red+seal&_catref=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m1538 "silver certificate": http://www.ebay.com/csc/Coins-Paper...ficate&_catref=1&_fln=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m283 "radar note": http://www.ebay.com/csc/Coins-Paper...r note&_catref=1&_fln=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m283 "repeater note": http://www.ebay.com/csc/Coins-Paper...r note&_catref=1&_fln=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m283 You may want to take the time to inventory what you have and post it here in the "For Sale" forum as you may get a better price from a collector than a dealer.
The daunting task of typing up all info on all my paper money has been completed. I've organized it a little into smaller groups..Old Money. Star notes. Errors. Etc. The majority of my notes are Two Dollar bills. I am thinking of putting some of my paper up for sale in the CT For Sale section, but have been researching eBay a little too. The fact is, not having to fuss with fees and just sell face to face is going to be what I'm looking into most. ...Now just to get the most bang for my buck..please keep insight coming!!
If I was in your shoes, I would assemble a detailed list with; A) Denomination B) Series (year) C) Serial Number D) Condition (grade) E) Remarks (radar, repeater, ladder, star, error etc) This should give any prospective buyer a starting point. You should also have asking prices, and if the notes are being sold individually, or as a group. I hope this helps.
I agree with the other posts but I would also recommend either buying or checking out at your local library the following book: [h=1]A Guide Book Of United States Paper Money: Complete Source for History, Grading, and Prices (Official Red Book)[/h]As always don't take the prices listed as gospel but as a good idea of what range to expect. Also, I would really post some picts on here as you will get some honest answers as to what you have and what they may be worth. Good luck!
I'd sell the more common notes on Ebay, because if you take them to a dealer you're going to get bottom dollar for paper. I regularly buy paper from my dealer and then flip it on Ebay for usually 3-4 times what I paid for it. Dealers just don't seem to like to mess with common notes. However, anything a bit rarer or more sought after, I'd take to a dealer. If it's a nice piece they know they have buyers for, they'll pay good money for it. Guy
That's a thought! Thank you!! I've begun to catagorize things in an order that will be most understandable for the buyers. Keep posting CT
