Could you folks please tell me which Morgans are rare, highly collectable, so that I may build a collection of certified ones. Not into VAMS.
    Thanks

Depends on your Budget. Start with a 1893-S and work your way down.

With respect intended, if you have to ask that question, I highly suggest you do not buy any at all. Most people who buy without having done the requisite research lose out. The higher end you buy without knowing what you're doing, the bigger your losses may end up being. I wouldn't buy anything for a good 3-6 months until you've lurked on here long enough to find the right books and mentors.

If you want to know what's rare, look at the population reports from the grading services. They'll show you both absolute and conditional rarity.

If you want to know what Morgans to look for I would suggest buying a book about Morgan Dollars and reading up on them and research them on line as well as in books. The more knowledgeable you become the better you will be when buying.
