I had some time on my hands today, so I decided to foray once again into numismatic photography. For a long while, I've wanted to use diffused lighting to photograph. I set up 2 light sources, but my homemade rig wasn't good enough -- I couldn't get enough light in. I guess I'm going to have to break down and purchase a cloud dome, or some similar device. In any case, with the two-source lighting, I got some okay pics of a couple of my raw 1938-1939 nickels. I just chose a couple with better toning. No certified coins in these shoots, and photos are not altered. I just downloaded Photoshop today, and haven't figured out how to use it yet. Enjoy. 1938-P: 1938-D: 1938-D: 1938-D: 1938-D: 1939: 1939-D: Not much toning, but really nice surfaces. 1939-D:
You would't be pullin' a "Lehigh" on us would you Borgovan? I think those are some really nice shots......
Nah...I could never compare to Lehigh's collection, but thanks for the comparison. Paul has some fantastic stuff. The photos are not what I want yet, but each time I take a crack at it, I learn something.
Wow, I keep trying, unsuccessfully, to use my flat bed scanner, which i know is not the best. I hope to be able to get photos like that someday. Regards, Stan
Thank you all for the feedback. I'm pretty busy this weekend, but I'll try to get motivated to make time to shoot a few more; maybe 1940-1941.
