http://www.auctionzip.com/aflive.html?method=getCatalogLots&catalogref=6EYLXE3LPH&page=1&orderby=1 I looked through this group of jewelry and coins; the latter are overshadowed by the former. This "auction zip" is being held in Westlake Village, CA. Still there were 1798 $5 and $10 gold coins a gold Grant commem. and a bunch of common material. Everything is "as is"; translation, if you don't know what you are bidding on you had better sit on your hands. Anyone else have insights into this?
I know about auction, didn't read info on this one, maybe 18% buyers fee, 30 dollars shipping, not sure on sale tax, 10% if, they have a return policy
It looks like no return except for a fire or act of God. So everything is as is, even if fake. There is no Santa Claus in any collectibles business. Expect everything to go at full market and then some.
This auction company is so full of "you know what". I have watched quite a few of their previous auctions and there is NOTHING that you want to bid on from them. About as dishonest as they come, if you ask me.
These aren't necessarily all police seizures, either, they mix in a lot of other junk in these. You want to watch out for the gemstones, in particular. That's where the people who don't know what they're doing can really get burned.
Know how they got the name? Some old guy consigned a few lots, when he saw what they brought after "fees," he had a seizure.
