http://www.seizedpropertyauctions.com/viewevent.neo?id=130 I just felt that I had to share. I probably will not get anything from this but all of you may be interested. I can just sit and look at those coins all day!!! For the last hour I have been mesmerized. Some of the rarest US coins up for Auction. Good Luck and Enjoy.
There have been a number of threads about this site. The clear consensus is that you won't find any bargains there. The site attracts "bargain hunters" who have no idea what they are looking at, and thus become infected with "auction fever", bidding up many lots to totally unrealistic prices. A couple of years ago when I first learned of the site I made several bids. Every single lot I bid on was hammered at 150-250% of reasonable value.
Wow, I'm not surprised I guess because I have seen how people can get at auctions. The people that probably watch these auctions probably have money to burn and know nothing about coins. I may be going to a local auction this weekend and I expect the same. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Darryl, that crowd is a private organisation that has no connection to either the U.S. federal government or any of the 50 state governments of the U.S.A..Like Roy has said, there has been numerous postings on this very shady crowd. If I were you,I'd keep my money where it belongs - in the pocket, not their cash registers! Aidan
Thanks Aidan, Always good to know who to stay away from... Roy's warning was enough but it's always good to hear from more than one on how good or bad a group/person is when it comes to buying something. The advice from this group on either side of this issue is always appreciated. Anyways - the wife has the checkbook and I think I've exceeded my limit for a little while. Will have to get lucky roll searching or sell more stuff on our favorite auction site. She doesn't know about the Jamestown proof coin that should show up today. Aren't those mint folks just so nice to keep sending me coins now if they would only send that darn ASE Unc. Darryl
