Just wanted to post something to wish all my fellow collectors a Merry Christmas. (I've actually been saving this one until now!) This is a 1993 souvenir card issued by American Bank Note Co to celebrate the holidays. It depicts an 1860s bank draft from Shetucket Bank in Connecticut with a classic vignette of Santa dashing off in his sleigh and one at the bottom of him filling stockings at the hearth.

Wishing all of you a warm and happy holiday. And to be PC, happy post-Hanukka, as well. Sorry I could find no banknotes depicting menorahs. :smile

I hadn't seen that one before but it's very nice!
Also appropriate for this time of year.

The book Greenback: The Almighty Dollar and the Invention of America by Jason Goodwin pictures an obsolete national $2 State of New York - Saint Nicholas Bank note that also bears this same Santa Claus vignette (page 157). A fun recommended read!

I also came across an old Bank Note Reporter article on E-sylum from 2002, NOTES FROM SAINT NICK credited to Nancy Wilson, and Dave Harper of Numismatic News regarding Wilson's article from the December 1997 in Bank Note Reporter.

There are many other excellent sources cited, including articles written by Mr. Gene Hessler on the subject.
