Seeking rolls of Lincoln pennies (1928)

The Dallas Coin Club is thinking about getting some encased pennies made to (belatedly) celebrate our 1000 continuous meeting & supplement the wooden nickels we give out to potential meetings at coin shows. We'd like to use pennies with the date our club was founded, and I was wondering if anyone has suggestions about where to find a large supply (300-500) of mid-to-low-grade pennies with the same date.

Is there a market for Lincoln penny rolls? Do you know of any shops that carry such an oddly specific numismatic item?

I doubt you could ever find them (1928 rolls) at all. I would think your only choice would be to settle for a modern date for which rolls are readily available.

My suspicion is that there are dealers with junk wheatie bins that I'll just have to comb through. Any other suggestions?

Spread the word through the dealer network. There are a lot of dealers that sort and store date rolls of wheat cents. Offer a reasonable premium for solid date rolls of 1928 and I'm sure you can get them. What are wheats $2 a roll? Offer $6 a roll for 28's and see what happens.

Might try talking to Silvertowne, a years or so ago they bought 1.5 million wheats and higher a group of high school student to go through them sorting them by decade. don't know if they still have them or not.

Just googled 1928 cent roll and found a dealer who has 7 rolls for $9.35 a roll. They are out there.

You have 25,000 members in your coin club?

Um, no? I think we have 100-200 active members. Why do you ask?

Ah, I see. Yeah, I could see where that misunderstanding came from.

And I wouldn't want to try and run a club meeting with that many people! Geeze. Just imagine.
