By posting graded coins\currency with the Grader's coin serial number am I putting myself and my collection at risk?

Can the coin's serial number reveal my identity and where I live?

Don't want to sound paranoid just trying to be cautious.

I couldn't see how, unless someone hacks the TPG records. Even then, they could only get access to your address if you were the original submitter and had it mailed to your home.

I don't think the serial number can be used to track who you are - or are you talking about a registry set? I suppose those could be used to track back to you - if someone could hack into the TPG and get the data. I see no more risk in posting here than buying on Ebay or Heritage. Plenty of places for a hacker to get information on me.

When a coin comes from NGC it has a unique serial number, which I assume, links the coin to the person who registered it. it appears from the posts, this isn't anything to be concerned about.

    I'm OK with that.

The only thing the serial provides is a way to verify the coin is genuine in the slab its in. I trace serial numbers of NGC coins all the time. If there are photos of the coin I'm looking to buy, I can see the coin before hand and compare to the actual coin.

As far as your personal info, no.
