I need help identifying this coin / medal

One side is the typical indian cent obverse with the date.

the other side contains the "Second to None" the date "1960"
and "2d INFDIV" over a shield in the center of the coin

Does anyone have any information or links I could follow for information.

Well, it's a US Army medal of some kind. The motto for the Army's 2nd Infantry Division is "Second to None"

Not sure about the minting of the medal though

It may be included in the category of 'challenge coins'?

Challenge coins are a tradition started in WW I.

Yup, and 1917 was during WWI.

Not knowning much about the token, I'd say that 1960 is the date it was made. I am something of a military history buff and the 2nd Infantry Division was founded in 1917-so that would explain the 1917 date.

Okay, I understand the 1917 reference, but, how did you come to 1960? Did something happen then to warrant the issue of the piece? Obviously not a special anniversary date.

I found your token in two of my military token refs.

It is id R48 in James Curto's "A Revised Check List and Valuation of Military Tokens of the United States 1866-1969, Book I". The diameter should be 21mm. It was issued with the hole, and was for use in Korea. This 1981 book listed the value at $3.50.

In Paul Cunningham's "Military Tokens of the United States, Volume 2 (Overseas Issues)", the id number is KR170 (and cross references to the R48 id). Additional info here indicates that the metal is bronze. Evidently the 2nd Inf. Div. was stationed at Camp Casey (Ton Du Chon) while in Korea. Camp Casey was established on 14 January 1954. Value was listed at $4.00 in this 1998 reference.
