It is undoubtedly a very beautiful piece. But aren’t you tired of cheap gold? When will you upgrade to bronze coins ???

What a coincidence my 2nd coin in 2020 was also a hekte from erythrai from the same auction. I chose it over yours because:
    1. The punch is different/interesting and resembles lydian coins
    2. It went cheaper
    3. The lion's pelt is somewhat more discreet or maybe the die was worn. Yours is so realistic that it looks like the lion has devoured half of the head of herakles

I would be much interested to hear why you chose yours over mine :)

Congratulations on your nice coin win!

I was looking at the Triton stuff yesterday morning. By chance, I saw the e-auction was closing that day. Looking thru it, I saw your coin and mine. I liked both, but decided on my coin for the quadripartite punch detail/ also the lion looks like he is in charge! But, both coins are really nice in their own way. I saw a TPG example Goldberg Auction MS 4/5 4/5 realized $1500/ yours/ mine far better quality. For me, all 3 coins where sheer luck/ glad I checked out the "Greek" section. In the Triton "Medieval" part/ there is a coin graded EF thats better quality, then a PGGS MS-65+ different event. Glad, we both got what we wanted!:cat:

Really nice coin - there seemed to be a lot of small Greek gold and electrum coins for sale for awhile although the number for sale seems to be dropping - interesting when a hoard makes its way like that - not this type, the ones from Mytilene and elsewhere.

I am glad we both had different criteria to choose and avoided a clash :angelic:

yes but that one had an NGC * on the slab. I tend to believe that HA has evolved into the main venue for japanese who only buy slabs, newbies, speculators and "investors"

ps the hammer price was 2200$, HA includes the fee in the posted results
