Another raw upgrade for my Seated Liberty Half collection. What grade would you give it? Also, do you think the toning is objectionable? First image is the newly acquired coin, and the second is what it replaced.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

The bad news: this new coin has been cleaned, and is not original.

The good news: it has a higher details grade than your first coin.

Your first coin actually looks to probably be original, exhibiting the marks and problems that a well circulated coin has. Your new coin has more details, but appears to be cleaned in some manner. I don't like it, really. I'd prefer your old coin.

I'd call your new coin VF Details, harshly cleaned.
Your old coin would probably be G-4.

In all honesty, I'd return the new coin and wait for a problem free, original, eye appealing coin in the grade you want. That might mean it costs more, but you can save while you wait to find the right coin. In the end, your collection will be better off with the nice coin that costs more rather than compromising on a cleaned/polished/problem coin.

The photos are the sellers, but when it is received I'll check above the mint mark and post what I hope will be a better image.

Thank you posting your opinion, @physics-fan3.14. I can not see evidence of cleaning. What am I missing?

The overall color of the coin in certain places as well as the hairlines on the right field of the obverse lead me to believe it was cleaned

Could just be a poor picture though, I'm still not certain.

I appreciate your advice and requested the seller cancel the sale and return my money. He did with no problem.

Surfaces looked funky but couldn’t say for certainty if it was cleaned or crappy pics. I was at vf 20 if not cleaned

    F-15 details.

The stark contrast between the bright white and the dark grey simply is not natural. That is how we can determine it has been cleaned.
