Where should I go to find rolls? Older casinos or newer ones? Sence everything has moved to the "tickets", will they even have rolls of halves?
Only the off strip's will have them, and even that's gettin scarce. I was there a while back and thought same thing.....great idea but didn't pan out
I haven't seen rolls of anything in Vegas casinos, besides quarters, in well over 15 years. There really aren't any small casinos off strip anymore that are the old family owned style that have penny slots or slots that take half dollars and dollars, outside of tokens. But, if you happen to find one, I'd be interested in hearing about it. I'm betting what you're looking for might still be found in little out of the way spots like Tonopagh or Ely, but no longer Vegas. Guy~
Weak, I was going to go on a mission tonight, but oh-well. Looks like I am going to have to stick to my finishing my cents and move up from there in denomination.
I know that in Biloxi, MS many of the casinos still have half dollar slots... I searched a few buckets full just by putting a $20 bill into one of them and immediately cashing out. Sadly most had bad slot machine damage, but I actually found a couple of only slightly-impaired proofs, one of which is in my type set for a clad Kennedy half. Can see if any casinos still have 50 cent slots in Las Vegas. Some casinos still use half dollars at the blackjack tables if they have to pay fractions of a dollar on blackjack, to avoid needing a 50 cent token or chip. If you can find any such casinos still using halves should be able to get some rolls from the cashier, or just use the slots as change machines to get some to look through.
try going to some of the banks around you. they might have halves if you ask. or if you have an extra $500 you could have them order a box for you.
Good luck finding any, very few left in town. Kind of intresting thing for me though, I was able to fill ALL silver nickels from just slot machine wins back a few years ago. No 1950-D though...
Hey Vegas coins, What shops do you go to here? I looked up Sahara Coins online, but could find there store (forgot the exact address at home I think it was in the 7200 ish range).
Sahara Coins just moved locations. I believe they are near Sahara and Rainbow now, but you might want to look in the yellow pages and give them a call. Their website has never worked. Guy~
