Good morning everyone....today is going to be a great day I was checking out at Walgreens this morning and noticed these beauties in the register while I was receiving my change I paid .50 a piece for them and well I'm just super excited to start a new collection! Here is the breakdown.... 1917 s (reverse), p 1933 s (yay me) 1934 p 1935 s 1937 s,d,p 1938 p 1939 s,p 1942 p 1943 s,d,p 1944 s,d 1945 p 1946 s,p Oh I forgot to mention YES I did check them all....they are as real as they can be ☺️
Awesome find. While working at Sears I got a couple of cashiers to look for wheat cents for me. Got a 09 VDB handed to be reverse side up. Had me sweating for a few seconds. lol Just a couple silver coins. No haul like yours! Congrats!
Who would have thought Walgreens, of course what am I saying I peer into the cash drawer wherever I am too. Sick, sick obsession! Congrats!
Amazing find. I need to start looking in the register drawer when I shop. A little surprising that if the clerk accepted them for payment, they didn't realize that they were worth a lot more than face. I can see clerks not recognizing silver Washington quarters or Roosevelt dimes because they are current designs. But Walkers are two designs back. Wonder how they would react to a draped bust half. If the stories are true of clerks trying to scan the plastic square tube used to separate one customer's purchases from another's, or stating that a customer had "Six" items and not "A half dozen" as the customer stated, then I can definitely see a clerk accepting half dollars that are the correct weight and size without giving it a second thought. Just wish they'd give them to me . Steve
Funny, the majority of the stores I visit have the cash drawers out of my line of sight. You are a very lucky person.
There is a strong chance that those were stolen from someone. A check with local police could lead to an arrest if the store has a camera to view who brought them in.
Much as this seems a great find, I too have a suspicion that someone is missing part of their collection.
