For those of you that remember the Bolivian coinage we had roll into work several weeks ago this is part of it.

There were a total of eight 8 Reales cobs in the set. NOT stuff we really deal with. We sent four into NGC. All are legit and now I have a bit more information to help me look them up further.
Three are KM10 as is noted on the holders and struck under the reign of Phillip III from 1596-1621. All came back as XF40 with one being noted for an obverse scratch.
So I did a bit of digging and figured they should sell for $300-400.
So my boss decides to put a few on ebay with a $200 reserve.

One of the two he wanted to put up was the 1730 and he did this before I could do any research. Luckily I caught it in time.
If I'm not mistaken this is KM# R31a. The 1730P M as listed on the holder.
Book price in XF40 is $9000!

Now I am NOT strong on this stuff at all. Anyone that is and wants to verify it or even tell me why I might be wrong it would be appreciated.

    Just hope I'm right! ;)

    clembo,
Although this coin is way outside my area of knowledge, by me looking it up in my Krause 18th century catalog 3rd edition I would have to also agree that it is a KM# R31a. Est value of $9,000 in XF

WOW what a find .. your boss should give you a raise/or bonus for your research!!

It is such a cool coin :thumb:
