This might sound stupid on my part, but does anyone have any information on these new mint sets with a satin finish?? One thing I do know about them is they don't look any different but they are really expensive.

What kind of information ? As for the expense, they are the normal price.

I was watching some Shop at Home channel or something and they had the 2006 Satin Mint Set and it was running for 300.

Well I wouldn't be buying any from them if I were you. You can buy them direct from the mint for $16.95.

Yes but I'll bet that the Home Shopping Channel's coins were gold plated! Now you can't buy these from the mint, now can you? The shipping charges is all that is keeping me from getting a couple of the sets.

That's the home shopping network for you. I wouldnt bother buying anything from them they like to sell damaged coins (ie they are gold or silver plated) at an incredible premium.

Those TV shows are ridiculous. I wouldn't buy anything from them either. Just a few minutes ago I saw one selling the gold 1-ounce Buffalos for $2,000.

I saw that also. They said the coins are "first day of issue", and that thousands had been graded to get around 700 in that grade. How do they get thousands on the first day ? Must have good connections. It was the proofs.
