The San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge is going to have a 75th anniversary celebration this month. The Golden Gate Exposition was a World's Fair which ran from 1939 to 1940 at Treasure Island, a man-made island near San Francisco, California. It was operated partly to celebrate the completion of the Golden Gate Bridge in 1937. Both of my parents lived in the San Francisco area then and attended the fair at different times. My father also worked for Milen's Jewelers in Oakland around the time of the fair. Cool Tokens! My mom attended the 1939 World's Fair in SF when she was 10 year's old. She and her brother and their parents took a train from Minneapolis. Years later when I was living in SF I asked if she was going to come out for a visit. She said that she had already been there. Of course I said when? She told me about the fair and I laughed. I said, Mom! SF has changed a bit since 1939. Two of my kids were born in SF. It's a great city and a place you should be required to visit before you are allowed to die. :smile Thanks for sharing!
