:loud: Final count of San Francisco Commemorative sold are:

    Silver Proof: 160.8K
    Silver Unc: 67.1K
    Total sales: 227.9K

Original plan was to mint 500K. Final sales are less than half the expected amount!

PS: I did not keep track of gold commemorative sales.

    san sales

The low minage figures could be good for future sales, but I was surprised by the numbers. They are much lower than I expected. I really liked the design, especially the reverse, and some of the procedes were going to benefit the San francisco mint so I figured more collectors would have stepped up and bought more coins. i guess thats what I get for thinking!:D

The Franklin Commemoratives sold out fast only 250,000 per coin big difference then 500,000

Good post, I was wondering about this...

So what will happen to the remaining coin???

Will the mint sit on them till the value really starts climbin on the secondary market, then dump'em back on the market???

Or will they melt them down helping out, maybe helping out future values...

I ordered one proof and one uncirculated for myself. I sent them in to PCGS and they came back MS70 and PR69! I guess I got pretty lucky with the uncirculated.

    but.........

The Franklin did have less to sell, but it sold out in days, the SF coin was on sale for months and still didn't sell close to the Franklins. The Franklin coins are classics, but I still thought the SF coin would do better than it did.

I bought 4 of each of the Franklins and two of each of the SFs... I wanted to get 4, but didn't have the cash...

I've still never had anything graded... I want to, but I'm scared I'll either get a really low grade or get it body bagged...

I guess, If I do and I get some bodybagged, I may ask them to slab it and lable it

    Bodybagged
    Grade BB Neg69

I'll start my own new registry...

I'll bet a lot of those sales were in the San Francisco area.

The "Old Mint" has a lot of local interest but little national interest.

I bought the two versions of the silver dollar (Unc and Proof).

    I live near SF.

    Frankies

I bought 1 each of the four franklins(and wish I would have bought 20 each) and resold them right away and doubled my money. I waited till the hype cooled down and Last month I bought them all back at about issue price.;) I thought I would try that with the SF coins but it didn't work quite as well.:goof:

    Hi

I got a few of the Franklins also, although the Franks have gone down lately I think in the end when the air clears from all the coins the mint is churning out, they will rise because they are classics.
