IMG_1834.png So I just got a shield nickel that is a pattern Judd 1350. Thing is is that this is really not as much a pattern as it is somebody minting their coins, 1913 style. It’s a shield nickel, stamped on a copper planchette.

this is the official story, or at least semi official

Fast forward 100 years later, and I don’t get a Judd number but an error label. This coin was minted by rogue employees who would then put the coins in the oil pan of the forklifts they used so they can get the coins out as security is still very tight they had an inside guy on the repair side, who would then get the coins out of the oil pans and get them out to the collectors
