My best box of halves had no silver at all..... it did have a 1974-d ddo though.

 

I have to admit, that is how I have gotten some of my best boxes of halves ever, the ones producing 9-10 90%, more 40% - some dolt ordered the boxes and failed to pick them up so the bank called me. Who says good deeds aren't rewarded?

My recent 1962 Franklin Proof came from one such box.

 

Someone returned about 20 boxes of nickels to a bank I get bags from, I'm guessing they were hording nickels back when they were worth about 9 cents and gave up on that, one of the boxes had 4 V nickels in it.

 

That Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars went and bought something like 100 boxes of nickels ca. 2007 or so thinking he could melt them and reap a profit. Then the US government banned melting of cents and nickels. Have to wonder how many silvers, V nicks, Buffers etc were in those boxes.

 

Pretty sure melting of cents and nickels was banned in December 2006.

 

well, no one ever said that Rick Harrison was a rocket scientist.
