What style coin storage do you prefer? Capsule, flip, or slab? I know flips can cause problems for some. Do you use either or just wrap them in a napkin and stick them in your sock drawer? Where is the best place you've found to get your supplies?
For you toning guys, if you want them to tone, or don't mind if they do, how do you store them. It can't happen in an airtight capsule. WHat's your method?
I use 2x2 flips since they let me handle the coin the most. I've had some mishaps with staples or dropping them. There isn't much in my collection valuable enough to feel the need to slab things. When I get closer to completing my US Type Set, perhaps in another 20-30 years, I will consider putting them in a Dansco Set. I do have a few series of US coins in Dansco books, most unfinished. Here is where I buy my supplies: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Publications-Supplies-/83274/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=&_ssn=timer6256 I like the BCW pages over the lead dog because hole on the bottom of them goes through both parts of the pages and you can remove them from either side of the page. http://www.ebay.com/itm/381053558912?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITI I pick up staples for my flat cinch stapler when I visit a coin show or dealer, whichever comes first.
"Airtight capsule" is a myth, er, marketing exaggeration. Coins certainly can tone in capsules -- number one, they aren't actually airtight, and number two, there might have been something on the coin when you put it in. Coins are somewhat less likely to tone in capsules than in albums, because albums can emit the stuff that makes coins tone. Capsules also do offer some protection against airborne toning agents (and, of course, physical contact).
I have all: albums, slabs, airtites, flips and 2x2's. It just depends on the coins overall value as to whether they remain in them.
