Jim Charlton, founder of the Charlton Press, passed away this past weekend at the age of 102. This is what Bret Evans (president of the RCNA and editor of Canadian Coin News) had posted:

Jim Charlton was considered by many to be one of the main 'fathers' of Canadian numismatics. I last saw Jim at his 100th birthday celebration at the Windsor RCNA in 2011. He lived a full life - we all wish we could live as long and healthy as he did.

Thanks for posting the news. Perhaps we could post some Canada coins from his 1911 birth year.

That is a loss indeed, he was the pioneer of Canadian numismatics. He will be missed for sure!

Wow, 102 years, that's quite a lifetime. Thanks very much to Mr. Charlton for your contributions to our hobby, and may you rest in peace sir! I have several of Charlton's books on my shelves.
