I have seen too many posts regarding Sacagawea's or native American dollars. Is there no interest in these coins. I have the complete set except for the 2001 proof. I love these coins. I have seen the new design for 2010 and love it as well. I hope these coins continue for some time and I hope interest in them goes up as well.
Cheerio Cheerio, chappie. I Like them and have some stashed some away. Not "One Each" yet but hope to swap someday for the series. Did you happen to find the thread about the Cheerio Sac here? Somebody cares. And I have a roll of the new "Native" but I'm keeping that way for now.
I think that as the designs change on the Native American coins, collector interest will get turned back onto the small golden dollars. My interest was certainly sparked with the 2010 Design!
I agree. I have one UNC P&D for each year (2001-2009) -- but I'm a bit more excited about it with the 2010 design, which (on paper -- I haven't seen the coin yet) seems pretty cool. I ordered $250 of 'em on direct ship I should be getting any day now!
I like the small dollars, not big and bulky, pres. dollars not so much. Only sac I'm missing is the 2001-S PR. I hope the series continues for many years to come...
There among the top "7" ugliest for sure but There among the top "7" ugliest for sure but I do sort of like the last 2 years with no date obv. because it looks so different, Listen most coin collectors/dealers my age and over are never going to "warm up" to these coins. Heck to us there has not be a classic or beautiful U.S. coin since the Walker except for maybe a few commems or eagles. It may be true that the new collectors (people 30 and under) actually will make some of these coins popular in the future, anythings possible. But from a beauty or art stand point the classic U.S. coins such as Buffalo, Walker, Indian, Bust type just floor these new ones - they are so far advanced that I don't see it but us older folks will die off sooner or later that's for sure and the hobby will be yours.
....i like the native american bucks. i DON'T like the edge lettering on them OR on the prez bucks! just a bad idea imho.
My bank is going to order the 2010's. The mgr. will hold 2 rolls for me. Keep one and spend the other.
How is your bank going to order 2 rolls of 2010's? You can only get this through the mint, not the FRB.
I think that they are beautiful coins (for collectors anyway). I have multiple examples of all types except the Goodacre types. I haven't put them into sets yet but I usually wait until the books have caught up with the production realities.
The manager told me she can get them as she orders the Pres. Dollars and she got me the Native American 2009. Now the are NOT in US mint wrappers, but they are UNC's.
You hope. Yes they can order the President dollars but the Fed cut off the special order for the quarters and possibly the NA dollars this year. (They might have cut off he special order for the President dollars as well. They seemed to be seriously against th special order program. They might grandfather the President dollars in though.) I'm sure you'll be able to get them through the FRB eventually. You may just have to wait until they have drawn down and gone through the 857 million coins they have setting in the vaults already. About 12 years worth.
I have to agree, but the '09s definately looked better than the original sketch suggested. I can't wait to order the '10s direct ship and keep a few of the nicer examples.
I got the direct ship '09s a while ago and have been going through them looking for any higher grade coins. So far, almost all the coin have serious hits on Sacagaweas face. These immediately turn into spending money. If the face isn't scarred up I'll check the reverse for serious hits. I'm seeing hits on all over the Native American woman's body. It looks like these coins have a soft alloy coating that will not stand the test of time. Out of 100 coins I've pulled only 5 made it for closer inspection, including the edge for the date, stars and inscription. I spend these coins every day and I don't seem to mind carrying them in my pocket. I had thought I wouldn't care for the mass in my pocket but it seems trivial compared to my key rings and other stuff I carry around every day . I got these coins to look through and also put into circulation. I think the paper $ has to go in order for the $ coins to be accepted in this country. Bruce
