I was wondering if anyone knows of this coins being double died? I don't know if that is the correct term. I have "saved" coins for years but have not been able to dedicate the time it deserves to be called a collector. I have been trying to document and look at what coins I do have and the edge of my coin shows vague imprints of the letters, numbers, and symbols, following in several places. Thank you in advance for any input.

    Welcome to CT, KatKc!

Please post a pic of both side of your coin so we can see what you see.

Those dollar coins do have edge lettering.

Here is a good place to start for more information on your dollar coin: http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/nativeamerican/

There is a difference in Double Died (incorrect) and Doubled Die - Quote "Note that the proper terminology for this occurrence includes the letter 'd' at the end of the first word, hence "doubled die". The term "double die" without the first word ending in 'd' is not proper numismatic terminology" closed quote
I want to share this webpage with you - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doubled_die

I have been unable to get a picture that is clear enough. I may be able to with different equipment in the next week or two.
