I have a a 2001 P Sacagawea coin that when you flip it over the eagle on the back is upside down, when on all other Sacagaweas (and other coins) the back should be right side up. does anyone know anything about this kind of error?
If the coin is as you described then it is a Rotated Die Error and in the case of your coin, if is 180 degrees out! A Sacagawea Dollar with this error will fetch a premium even in Circulated condition but bring much more if it is Uncirculated. Frank
He means it is worth much more than a dollar. His statement was to reassure you that if it is a rotated die error than even in circulated condition the coin is still worth considerably more than face value. This is not always the case. Some coins are worth alot if in proof or uncirculated condition but the value falls sharply if circulated. Sometimes it falls so much that the error is worth only a couple cents more than the face value.
If it's a genuine rotated die error, then it's worth several hundred dollars, even if it's lightly circulated.
