I finally got around to photographing my Sabina denarii. They are, I think, the four most frequently found on the market. Let's see your coins of Sabina! My only one. Would like one with the other hairstyle. Sabina (128-136 A.D.) AR Denarius O: SABINA AVGVSTA, diademed and draped bust of Sabina right. R: CONCOR-DIA AVG, Concordia seated left, holding patera and scepter. Rome 18mm 3.33g RIC 391; RSC 24 Ex A. Lynn Collection (Freeman & Sear E16), 89.
Nice @Roman Collector ! Cool four-score! I only have one of her (I believe it is your last one...kinda like Eve offering an apple...): RI Sabina 117-137 Denarius 3.18g Venus standing right holding an apple RSC73
nice RC! she's on my list...still don't have one of her. @Bing is that a weight adjustment on the obverse?
I'm not certain. It may just be a shovel mark. Someone familiar with adjustment marks would have to say for sure.
it would not only be illegal to post a a coin of her(kinda) but also immoral and big fat lie..cause i ain't got one o her yet...nice coin and coins all. i do like the one of her with her hair up @dougsmit
Nice Sabina's here great looking Fouree Doug. here a provincial PONTUS, Amisus Sabina Drachm 135-36 AD Hermes standing CILICIA, Zephyrion Hadrian Ae 27 Sabina
Roman Collector, congrats on scoring that sweet OP-Sabina I have a Sabina example as well ... wanna see it? Sabina, wife of Hadrian. Augusta, AR Denarius 128-136/7 AD Struck circa 128-134 AD Diameter: 20 mm Weight: 2.9 grams Obverse: SABINA AVGVSTA HADRIANI AVG P P, diademed and draped bust right, hair in plaited coil on crown of head Reverse: Anepigraphic, Venus standing right, seen from behind, leaning on column with shield behind, holding reverted spear and helmet Reference: RIC II 412 (Hadrian); Strack 363a; BMCRE 920 (Hadrian); RSC 89 Other: Sweet and Rare
Very nice. I am constantly on the look out for one of those Venus Victrix types. Venus Victrix is sort of a sub-collection of mine (among many). Hopefully, I'll score one at a reasonable price soon.
Here are my Sabinas: Denarius, Rome, Veneri Genetrici, and Sabina with Hadrianus, Alexandria, Bill. tetradrachm,
I'd love to find a Sabina denarius with the high hairdo, like steve's, those are quite special, or, an example with a left facing portrait - both quite scarce (and pricey). These are my current two examples of denarii of Sabina: Sabina denarius, Concordia. Sabina denarius, Junoni Reginae
Nice Sabinas all around, nice score @Roman Collector with your four different examples Strange looking hairdo/reverse drapery on your second example @Eduard, very unusual to me My only example is a very common Concordia seated Sabina, Denarius Rome mint AD 129 SABINA AVGVSTA HADRIANI AVG P P , draped bust right CONCORDIA AVG, Concordia seated left holding patera, resting on a statuette of Spes, Cornucopia beneath her seat. 3.22 gr Ref : Cohen # 12, RCV # 3919 Q
A couple of years ago, there was a holed rare 'o' mint Vespasian denarius for sale on eBay at a reasonable buy it now price. I booked marked it but never pulled the trigger. Someone else wasn't bothered by the hole and bought it. Ever since then I've regretted my decision. I don't mind holed coins now. Nice coin Bing!
