Now for round 2's coin. It's an 1881-S Morgan Dollar also graded by PCGS. Again, you MUST say the EXACT grade the label says. (If it's cleaned, proof, etc... as well!)

Also, please note that there's some chatter on the cheek and neck that doesn't really show well. ;)

Yeah, Lincoln's are a tough one for me too, especially the higher graded ones. ;)

P.S. I forgot to mention (if it matters) that the coin is in an old green PCGS holder. You're allowed to re-guess if needed.

I agree, since PCGS as clearly changed their grading standards over the years.

Would they grade them higher or lower from today's standards?

Lower. That isn't always the case, but it's not overly rare to resubmit those older slabs and get a grade bump. That is why people make a big deal about old "rattler" slabs. They tend to bump up more often than newer slabs.

I see, thanks for the info. :) I might get an upgrade, but for now I'll leave it. If some of you haven't already noticed, it also has a retained wire strike thru at about 9 o'clock on the obverse, which makes this a really interesting piece.
