Hi all :hail: I don`t remember where this came from all I know is it is a Imperial Russian note from 1917, but I noticed that there is a Swastika in the middle of the note??? Is there any value to this? Thanks
Ok thanks lettow, :thumb: And yes james but not in that way, I never would have thought it was used that much before the nazis, I heard it was some Asian luck charm before though. Thank you!
Oh, wow thats really colourful!I love it! I don`t like patterns (I like landscape on notes) but that is beautiful!!
The Slavs in Russia and the area believed in numerous deities before the arrival of Christianity. In their belief, the symbol of swastika represented the eternal circle of the universe. It is considered a symbol of higher celestial law and was used for protection of existing order of existence. This idea is quite similar to Asian/Indian swastika, totally unrelated to nazis.
Swasticas have been used all over the world by many different groups usually as religious symbols or good luck symbols for a couple thousand years or more. Once the Nazi's used it use of the symbol pretty much ended everywhere except for some use in the far east, and today whenever someone sees it most of them are shocked "that they would use that nazi symbol".
I only wish it were mine. The scan is from Ron Wise's page. One sold for $1,300.00 in the Lyn Knight sale at PCDA.
