I had the local shop keep this in the safe for me until I could get paid A typical Roma/quadriga denarius, but I like it. L. Appuleius Saturninus AR denarius Rome 104 B.C. Helmeted Roma head left bankers mark on check / Saturn in galloping quadriga right, pellet omega below, L.SATVRN in exergue. Cr. 317/3. ?
Great republic. I like the bankers mark especially. Im sure someone would think those fakes were real if it wasnt mentioned.
Thanks The denarius would probably be the most deceptive, the sestertii are a silverish pot metal. I think the Sev alexander was a jewelers peices
I love RR coins, and yours is no exception. Like Mat, I think the bankers mark is interesting and placed just right.
Sweet new pickup, randygeki (congrats on the new RR ... very cool) ... sadly, I don't have an example of L. Appuleius Saturninus (must buy more RRs)
Nice Roman Republic Randy! I keep telling myself I've got to get more of these. I like the style so much. The quadriga reverse adds to its appeal imo. Well done!
I think the RR is a great example....I've been bidding and trying to buy a few examples myself...although I've now gotten myself obsessed with trying to get a nice J Caesar and Pompey example listed on Agora...So little time and so many coins LOL
