Brandon, …the replies above are very true, but there is something being left unsaid, and I’m gonna say it… When the decision was made to use zinc as a core for cents was the moment the Mint stopped caring about them. The results of the 1980’s Copper Plated Zinc production, across all 3 main Mints, are irrefutable. The Philly and Denver Mints never put out a worse product, IMO. And San Francisco had their share of problems. …and so, when it comes down to a wonky, distorted mint mark…well, the result speaks for itself…Spark
