1986-D cent with something southeast of the mintmark. I forgot what year they quit hand punching the mintmarks. Any ideas what this is?
you will see some larger than this one if you keep looking thru rolls of these darn copper plated cents. sometimes the entire coin will rot away. around the letters and numbers is usually wherethe zinc core starts to rot.
1989 was the last year that the mint hand-punched the mintmark into the working dies, thus preventing RPMs from occurring 1990 and onward. Your 1986 coin displays plating issues as already noted.
