I got this 1985-P quarter out of the change machine at work 2 weeks ago. The quarter has a rotation of 180 degrees. The revers is upside down if you turn the coin toward you from top to bottom. Some collectors while checking their change will turn the coin side to side and will miss this type of error. Always turn the coin toward you from top to bottom. Lou
Pictures For some reason the pictures didn't come up. Well here is the picture of the overs of the rotated die quarter that I got from the change machine. Lou
Which ones? The states quarters go for stupid money on eBay. Others, no premium, unless very strong, and you find a specific collector. I buy them, at no premium, there is no resale for them.
I also have an example of this particular rotated die error. Since both coins are rotated 180 degrees, it would imply a fixed rotation, rather than a dynamic rotation. As to value, an uncirculated example would probably go for $100 - $150.
No. A state quarter with a 180 degree rotation would be worth at least $300 in uncirculated condition.
