Neat rotated die found in change. At lunch, I hit my favorite fastfood place and the girl at the counter already knows to hold any $2, star, coins, I think she knows about coin collecting more than me LOL. This one she didnt catch, but told me she had about $4.50 in JFKs. I paid her face value for them. Got home and one kept looking different and I asked others and all agree, its rotated about 5 deg or so. Anyway, I have about 5 - 10 places that I go to LOL and yep, they say, I'll hold for you and they do : )
I also have this 1960 Silver PR70, that has a slight rotated die. Wouldn't the grading service have also listed it as such? Or do you have to ask? Just curious
You do have to submit it under the variety tier or they will just grade it as a regular coin. Also the mint has a 15 degree tolerance on die rotations so neither of your coins would be considered an error.
well dang, it was worth a try. ill have to get the protractor out and see for sure just in case thanks for the heads up! appreciate it!
Since SGS has no viable grading standards, and loosely slap 70 on everything they holder, it is not a PR70. More 66, 67 tops.
A protractor is not needed as an imaginary clock face works great! 12:00 = 0 1:30 = 45 degrees 3:00 = 90 degrees 4:30 = 135 degrees 6:00 = 180 degrees Hmmmm. Looking at the figures, a protractor might be fairly usefull. As you were!
