    Hello,

I found this interesting clip on youtube, explaining how coins where struck at the Philadelphia mint around 1940 :

In the beginning of the film you can watch the making of a medall depicting president Roosevelt. On ebay I found two medalls using the effigy showen . An inauguration medall of 1941 and a medall commemorating his dead in 1945.

I now would like to know if 1941 was the first year of production of medalls using this actuall effigy, or if it could date bak to 1933 og 1937, when Roosevelt was inaugurated for his 1. and 2. term.

    Best regards, Mynter

:)Interesting Mynter!:D ! I know the 1933 Roosevelt Presidential metal in a rare 1!! The Engraver was expecting Gold coin as payment is what the story goes. But US Mint sent him a check. He got mad told the US Mint to stop making them.

that why their was only 500- almost 600 made.
    :(

Roosevelt had taken USA off gold standard.
Great Video of old Philly mint. :)

Thank you for your answer. Does that mean that the actual portrait used again in 1941 and 1945 allready had been used in 1933 and 37, or are we talking of a diferent design ?

    Best regards, Mynter
