HI ALL The quan minted in the 1982-p Roosevelt dime was 519,475,ooo. Some business strike dimes were struck without a mint mark. Is there anyone here that knows how many in error were minted, the red book has no amount listed?
Coin facts doesn't have separate numbers either. Since it was an error, would they know for sure how many were done?
You are absolutely right, there would be no way of knowing for sure. Maybe a rough estimate, but nothing more.
I was thinking the same thing, but there might be a roosevelt dime person out there that might know.I have three sets but would like to start an error collectoin of them. There is not alot of errors in Roosevelt dimes but one must search to find somthing. The sets I have are 1946 to 1964 not much error there but I like the look of the coin.
HI DAN I would also like to add, that it is my opinion that our U.S. MINT makes alot of error coins and lets them go out in circulation. They just don't tell us about them until someone in our hobby finds them and then they say OH-YA by the way, so keep searching there out there.
This is considered a variety. The experts were guessing 10,000 to 12,000 based on the numbers turning up in Sandusky and Pittsburgh. I've seen strikes from significantly worn dies which might imply that a lot more were made. They are still turning up in circulation so it's possible those early estimates were wrong.
Im about to go thru a large coffee can of 46-64 Roosevelts , If anyone needs any specific dates & mints let me know. A good percentage look BU-. So there may be some winners !
