If I am correct the Philadelphia Mint produced Roosevelt Dime Proofs from 1950 to 1964. Yet, I haven't see these in coin albums such as Littleton (Definitely) and Dansco (I'm not positive). For sure Littleton starts the proofs in '68 when the SF mint started production.

Does anyone know why they are not included? Also does anyone know of a good website to find info on these proofs? The websites I have been to so far have very little information on these proofs, just seems a little odd to me.

As for the Special Mint Sets that included the Roosevelt Dimes I forgot exactly what they are. Are they a proof planchet using circulating dyes or is it just the opposite, or I am totally wrong?

Any help in explaining this would be aprreciated.

There are no slots in albums for proof P-mint dimes from 1950-1964 because there were millions of business strike P-mint coins made for each of these years. However, beginning in 1968, the only S-mint dimes made were proof pieces, which meant that the albums had to have slots for these proof coins if they were to be "complete". There is no reason other than tradition that the albums are denoted as "Proof" for those years beginning with 1968.

I just find it strange these coins (much broader than just the dimes) are totally overlooked by albums, yet they contain both S proofs clad and silver.

Generally speaking the SMS are normal planchets struck one time with dies that were essentially prepared as proof dies. There is a lot of randomness in these characteristics however.
