I ordered this Conservation Medal from the mint. Its hard to photo, but interesting. And the price was write are $4.95. It bothers me, however, that the medal is matted in the pachet. I hear there is a Silver version of this. But I couldn't find it anywhere for sale.
A few years ago the mint came out with the Roosevelt Conservation Medals in silver. They were low mintage and did not stay up for sale very long. I think the later ones of the four that were issued were even lower mintage. I ordered and received one of each and almost missed out on one because they were selling so fast. They are real nice looking but I have not seen them for sale in the after market either.
This is the only coin or medal I could think of with Teddy Rooservelt, which is odd since he was the president which largely shaped the industrial economy in this country. Ruben
I got all four of the original silver releases also. This was one of the first efforts by the mint , that I know of, to set up a subscription program. The coins were released over several months as I recall and you could sign up ahead of their release to be assured you would get them all. I've seen these occasionally on ebay but have never seen them in any of the price guides I receive. I would think that they would have been considered to be part of the commemorative program.
My mistake. I thought they had a monetary value, but they don't. Great looking medals though. The mint could have just as easily dropped a 50 cent value on them.
