Hello world! My family recently moved our (senile) loveable grandmother into a nursing home. Upon cleaning out the crap in her house, we found a cigarette case containing old coins. Many silver dimes and nickels. Half dollars, and the like, the random coins that old people who grew up in the depression felt the need to ferret away. One, though stands out, and I don't know what it is or how much it is worth. It is dated 1572. On one side is the bust of a man, and it says Carolvs IX D G Francorvm Rex Invic On the other side is the bust of a woman, and it says Elizabeth D G Francorvm Regina.
Hi and welcome at Cointalk Certainly not roman. Probably a medal of some sort, but a pic would help Q
Can't come up with much. Sounds like a French medal for Charles IX. Try here... http://numismatics.org/collection/0000.999.69 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...sacat=See-All-Categories&_naf=1&_fvi=1&_rdc=1
