I read an interesting book recently: Rome vs Carthage; The War at Sea by Christa Steinby. The book covers an interesting time in Republican Rome and best of all has a few coin pics. I enjoyed the book and learned a few things.

Today I received two ship's prow coins. One was issued by Phillip V, Perseus, in 187 - 168 BC. The second is an L series uncia from 214 - 212 BC.

I thought I read somewhere the Roman's only needed their ships to last a shorter duration and did not build them as well as the Carthaginians.

I just added the book to my Wish List...also I've been wanting to explore Roman Republican bronzes more. I only have one as, and it's not even photographed.
