I typically do not focus on the Roman Rulers during the Empire era, nor do I really go for "better grades" when capturing them. However, over time, I have captured a wide variety of them and am putting them into sequential Albums. This is so that I can walk through History as I show them to my Grandkids. (Most of my personal collecting focus is on the Roman Republic and those historical entities that interacted with the Republic.)

After watching many postings, I took the liberty to add a few Ruler Slots to the RIC II List. That is because some of my Rulers are from Greek Imperial mints, etc. Regardless, SO FAR, it looks like there appears to be 212 Roman Ruler slots (I have removed #16 Anonymous from the count.) I am sure that experts can dispute or add to the count. I am open to learn.

I just captured Galla Placidia to my Rulers Collection. Forgive my photo quality, as I have not taken my own pictures. My focus is on the Historical placement of coins and not numismatics. This becomes Roman Ruler #144 for me.

I'm torn over whether to count usurpers as official rulers. If so, I need to add Aemilian, Marius, Sponsianus, Regalianus, and others whose coins can be quite rare and hardly showing up anywhere. I have a Macrianus, though. Other than that I'm doing what a lot of folks do and getting a coin of each ruler/empress. Only 25 coins of Regalianus are known to exist.

Yeah, agreed. I try to get them all in as Historical Placemarkers.

Personally, I think VINDEX needs to be added too. :)

This is supposedly the order of Rarity according to RIC II. That is except for my additions at the end. The additions are from comments gleaned from prior threads and posts. And, I am personally adding Vindex to my list. This gives me 145 of 213 Rulers.

I am NOT a scholar, rather I am a basic guy having fun collecting cool placeholders in Human History. This collection covers the Roman Rulers period.

#158 is pretty impressive, I don't have that one. But, I have a MUCH higher percentage than you, Gandalf. :cigar:

(Of course, that's because I pretend 165 and up don't exist...)

I intend to collect all the rulers eventually... I just have a competing hobby: collecting countries. I'll add seven new countries in west Africa to my collection in January, and Antarctica in March. After that, I'll be in a position to collect rare Roman rulers again.

Usurpers definitely count. As long as they could maintain effective control over a territory, even for a short time, they're a real ruler for all intents and purposes. As long as they have a portrait, i'll collect them.

Well done @Greg Heinrich ... super examples of tough Rulers to capture. I agree about 'Usurpers'... they Ruled, and if it were any other empire or entity, those Rulers would had been recognized for their control over the empire. I was hoping you would post a few cool ones!
