Really nice example of the type. They put the control mark on this type fairly high on the reverse so, consequently, few show more than a small portion of the grapes or the leaf. You were extremely lucky to find one with grapes, leaf and mosg of the butterfly on-flan. I'm jealous
I'd love to have this type simply for the butterfly, a very uncommon device on ancient coins. Nice score!
http://numismatics.org/crro/ In an attempt to find a photo of one, I discovered the above link is now dead. Anyone know details? https://cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=178251 Finding a FDC may take a while.
In case you were wondering, the illustrated example 184/1a in Crawford is quite clear that it really is a butterfly.
thanks for the comments here is one with a good butterfly, and here are a few more pics of my coin too lol... 1st pic-- January Ebay auction 2nd pic -- May Ebay auction 3rd pic -- my picture The real appearance is most like my pic but slightly greener
Nice!! => congrats arnoldoe, that's an awesome AE RR Prow coin (I love those types) ... I have a couple of cool examples (no butterflies, but I have a couple of other cool stowaways)
