Hey there, could someone please help with the identification of this coin? I got it in pretty bad condition. On the picture it is not legible, on the the front side is written in PMT(P/R)COSIIIPP. On the back is written AVGVS(T). Thank you for your help.
Judging by the color of the metal, it looks like an as, though a diameter and weight (preferably in millimeters and grams) would help us confirm this. My first thought with the portrait was that it looked like Nerva, though it's a bit hard to tell in that condition. The legend seems to be a bit botched, as it should be TRP rather than just TP, and I couldn't find a legend with just "TP" on the Roman Coin Legend Search. Assuming that they were intending "TRP" there, it does seem that only Nerva fits the obverse legend. I think the reverseis either AEQVITAS AVGVST or FORTVNA AVGVST, though it's really hard to tell in that condition. If you can make out a scale in her right hand, it's the former, if you can see a rudder, the latter. It's really hard to tell in this condition from your picture.
Diameter is 26mm. I'm not able to estimate weight thus I have no scales here, though I believe fortuna has scales in her hand. Like you I thought that this is a Nerva. But what confuses me is part of the legend "TP", Nerva had "TRP"
Alright, then it sounds like it's an as with Aequitas. It's probably a variant on RIC 77. The issue with TP is that Roman Imperial legends are very formulaic, and I don't recall hearing of any legend having "TP" instead of "TRP" there. It seems that the die engraver made a mistake.
