How many of you will be searching rolls over the holidays? Last week I "ordered" $1,000.00 face in half dollars and $300.00 face of cents from my local bank. The manager said they will be ready for pickup next week.

I plan on doing a lot of searching between Christmas and the new year!

I will revive this post with my finds when I get through all the 32,000 coins.

    Happy Holidays!

I've got a box of halves due in today, just waiting for the call to come pick them up. I'll probably order another one for next week. Happy hunting to all.

I found a single roll of Halves from a Bank that usually has nothing. WHAT A ROLL. Out of 20 coins, 19 were 1964 90% Silver Halves!

    Eight 1964
    Eleven 1964-D
    One 1978-D

WOW.... I think I will scan these later, a couple are gems and are going into my Whitman.

Here is the kicker though, they were turned in with two more rolls and two rolls of IKEs. But they were gone by the time I got them.

    DAMMIT!

Bah, humbug! :( My bank just called and said that my order got screwed up. Instead of halves, they received quarters. Whadya think? Should I go get them or wait until next week when the halves come in?

What the heck, it is better than nothing, esp if they are new rolls, you may find a nice blank plachet or something, or maybe a double strike!

Even when the company screws up the order, I still pick them up. The bank is stuck with an unintended order if you don't pick it up. While they will gladly accomodate you not picking them up, it will sit in the back of the teller supervisor's mind that they may get stuck with them next time you place a special order.

The only bank that has ever worked with me for "special requests" with the federal reserve bank tried many times to get me a $2000 bag of presidential dollars. After $18,000 in boxes of dollars and numerous phone calls between the bank, the feds, and the armored car company, I gave up. But I believe the only reason that they kept trying for me was that they knew they wouldn't be stuck with all these uncirculating coins if ithe order got screwed up.

Just talked to the Lila again at the bank. She said that they have filed a complaint against the company for providing the wrong coins, but still won't have the right ones until Dec 31. So, I guess I will go get the quarters. Idle hands and all that rot.
