I live in Fort Myers, Fl and wanted to know if anybody lives in this area and would tell me some banks that are good for roll searching. Thanks
I doubt anybody will give up their good source banks... that's where they get their scores, haha. Just try various banks, and learn their policies and which banks have tellers that pick out goodies.
I live in Cape Coral. I used to search half dollar rolls until a few years ago. I've been a customer of the same Bank fo America branch for almost 30 years, so they would cut me a lot of slack. One thing you should know about BoA is that they use regional distribution facilties for supplying rolls to their branches. So, all of their change is processed in-house, and they only resort to the Fed when their stock runs low. What this would mean is that all of the boxes I searched would be recycled through their own system. For about 4 years, I was searching 2 - $500 boxes every week, and it was only a matter of time before I had searched everything in their inventory. You might want to check out Lee County Teachers Federal Credit Union. You only need to deposit $10 to join, but they do have a monthly service charge for low balances (check requirements). Otherwise, it is free and they have change machines which are free for members (check restrictions). The LCTFCU gets their change from the Fed, so you can inquire about ordering boxes for you. I've never used any of the other banks, but there are branches for Wachovia, Community, Busey and BB&T to name a few. On another note, the Fort Myers Coin Club holds a show during the winter season at the Elks Lodge on Park Meadow Drive in South Ft. Myers. The next two are scheduled for Saturday, January 22 & March 5. There are only about 40 dealers, so it isn't a real big show. Chris
Hi kmc2010... I live in Fort Myers too. I suffered a stroke and no longer attend the Fort Myers Coin Club meetings. However when I was active, I found my best bank sources for roll searching and loose coins in the tellers' change drawers were those banks offering "full service" to its customers. Most of those "full service" banks were Federal Reserve affiliated. All had been in business for 60 years or more. Most of my best finds were at the old banks in some of the smaller towns and cities like Arcadia, Bonita Springs, Clewiston, Estero, Everglades City, Fort Myers Beach, LaBelle, and Sanibel Island. Let us know where you decided to try and the results. Clinker
This is correct for Bank of America down in Florida for sure. 2 things to consider however. BoA also supplies some other branches (at least in North central Florida) and their main distribution center for that part of Florida is in jacksonville. Therefore, you still can search through lots and lots of coins before seeing your own again
